June, a multitude of activities will take place as we commemorate not only Juneteenth but also the 150th anniversary of the Historic Douglass Community and Urban Music Month.

The Parade will kick off promptly at 11 AM at the theater parking lot in the courtyard located at 1509 H Ave, Plano. To secure your spot in the parade, please make sure to arrive by 10 AM. The Grand Marshals leading the parade will be The Plano East Basketball State Champions and t

The Parade will kick off promptly at 11 AM at the theater parking lot in the courtyard located at 1509 H Ave, Plano. To secure your spot in the parade, please make sure to arrive by 10 AM. The Grand Marshals leading the parade will be The Plano East Basketball State Champions and their Coaching Staff. We are thrilled to have other teams, businesses, community members, and leaders from the East Side joining us in the parade.
The Plano Police will also be present, and don't forget to come see the magnificent horses. Following the parade, a few of the horses will be available for rides directly accessible from the Boys & Girls Club at the end of the route.
The Plano African American Museum is nestled in the historic Douglass Community of Plano, one of the most diverse cities in Texas. For several years, the museum hasn't been open to the public. On June 17th, the Museum will have a soft opening for the day, to help celebrate the rich history, heritage, and culture of African - Americans

Juneteenth Kickoff Celebration: "Praising Unity in Our Community" Date: Wednesday, June 19, 2024

Local churches will lead uplifting praise music and foster fellowship during the kickoff celebration.
To become an officially recognized event Sponsor and to participate in the Parade, the BBQ Contest, or as an event Vendor, click on the Forms tab at the top of the page and select the appropriate form. Event Sponsors automatically receive an invitation to participate in the Parade. There is also a link for making a general donation. All donations and vendor fees go to the Plano African American Museum, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Barbers will give $5 haircuts to kids.
Visit the Kid Zone for fun activities like face painting, balloons, a bubble truck, and more! Keep an eye out for the sign that says KID ZONE.
Following the parade, horse rides will be available. To enjoy a horse ride, please gather at the church located directly across the street from the Boys and Girls Club at 12:30 PM. Look for the sign marked HORSE RIDES.
